The results for the Railway Group D recruitment 2024 will be released this very month, in June. The Ministry of Railways issued this statement on Tuesday. Through this recruitment drive, 32,438 Group D vacancies within the Railways will be filled. It is noteworthy that for the past several days, candidates for this recruitment have been running a campaign on social media, demanding the release of the results. They were continuously tagging the Railway Minister, the Railways, and the Ministry of Railways in their tweets on 'X'. The Ministry of Railways has stated that a case regarding the Group D results is currently pending before the Telangana High Court. The Ministry is awaiting the verdict in a case currently being heard by the Telangana High Court. The results will be released once the Court delivers its judgment. The Ministry has indicated that the results are likely to be released in June 2026. It was further clarified that the outcome of the Group D recruitment depends on the Telangana High Court's verdict regarding a matter concerning the weightage assigned to marks obtained by Act Apprentices. The Court's decision is expected shortly, following which the subsequent result-processing procedures will be completed.
When Was the Exam Held?
The Railway Group D recruitment examination for
32,438 posts was conducted from November 27 to February 10. The answer key was released on February 17. The objection window was closed on February 23. The tentative date for the Group D physical test is June 2026. The CBT (Computer-Based Test) was conducted for 32,438 vacancies.
Controversy Regarding Weightage
It is worth noting that an ongoing dispute exists regarding the weightage accorded to 'Act Apprentice' candidates within the railway recruitment process. A case concerning this very issue is currently pending before the Telangana High Court.
According to the regulations, 20 percent of the posts in the Railway Group D recruitment are reserved for youths who have completed apprenticeship training (CCAA) at railway establishments. Furthermore, CCAA apprenticeship candidates are exempted from appearing for the physical test; that is, they are exempted from the running test. It should be noted that, following the written examination, the selection process includes a physical test component. In this test, male candidates are required to cover a distance of 100 meters carrying a weight of 35 kilograms in a single attempt within 2 minutes. Additionally, they must complete a 1000-meter run within 4 minutes and 15 seconds. Female candidates are required to cover a distance of 100 meters carrying a weight of 20 kilograms in a single attempt within 2 minutes, and complete a 1000-meter run within 5 minutes and 40 seconds. However, youths who have completed apprenticeship training are exempted from this running test.
